Much Greater Circles 64sec.
sample [505KB]
In
silent space the slow revolving earth proceeds,
Journeying
in harmony with the laws of time,
Repeating
its orbital course as part of much, much greater circles,
All
related, joined, by immutable forces.
A
profound, evolving, cyclical rhythm of change,
Where
our millions of years are one bar of a huge symphonic score
And
we, but a passing, ephemeral note.
How
then, may we evaluate ourselves within this seemingly infinite
music?
As
gods on a pinhead we jostle and dance a savage ballet of destruction:-
'The Murder of Goldilocks' - suck out her sustenance....
02 An Apology for Contemporary Art 48sec.
sample [376KB]
To
you, who live a long time after me.
I'm
sorry for the art we left for you.
There
were a few here, knew how things should be,
But
we were drowned as flies caught in a whirling pool,
Or
snapped by greedy fish who saw us there,
Struggling
to prolong our little lives.
We
could have been a danger, posed a threat
To
blind commercial interests, money gods....
03
Man of War 45sec,
sample [358KB]
I
come from a line which stretches back to a time unknown and a
battle
fought -
And
clash, crash, the shrieks of war, the stink of fear, the shattered
jaw that
Grins,
grins and coughs up blood and dirt, dirt, trudge, trudge
And
split my ears and where's my mates and how long to go 'til I get
to the gates?
Time
floats - on distant waves within my mind.
Did
they too, feel the twisted knot?
At
Agincourt.....
04
The Island 56sec.
sample [443KB]
The
island lay in shallow seas, defined by rocky coasts and sandy
coves.
It once was cloaked abundantly in trees, thick forested, where
quiet groves
Allowed
some scant respite from gloom, or dank interior, where roamed
The wolf and bear, wild, sharp-tusked boar - and secret birds
intoned
Their kingdom rights with echoing and hollow calls,
Scarce
seen between the green and claustrophobic, curtained walls.
In
ships of war they came across....
05
Do I Like Quantum Physics! 49sec.
sample [384KB]
Oh boy, do I like quantum physics -
Little,
whizzy world that is its
Own
quick universe of laws they say
Where
chaos theory rules the day -
Or
does it? Will we ever know?
While
quarks are up and down and charmed I'm sure -
but
not so sure they toe the line -
These
tiny buggers row with Einstein.
And
where on earth, or inner space
Is
that Higgs boson thing they chase...
06
Remnants of Kings 49sec.
sample [384KB]
Buried
in earth the artefacts lie
Sentinel
to deeper, hidden treasures.
Underneath
time in their cold, dark graves,
Bearing
the weight of ages,
Guarding
the remnants of kings.
Under
the moon the rituals cry,
Monument
to ancient pagan kingdoms.
Dance,
priestess, in your old wild way...
07
Duet for Earth and Psyche 76sec.
sample [600KB]
There
is, below the surface, underground, unseen but sometime felt,
A
movement, shivering, then stopped [unnerving in that very calm]
-
And
fluttering the birds with ancient adrenalin.
It
grows, repeats and grows again, seeding fear and speculation.
We
should take note of this - and some do, researching with evolving
tools
To
better understand the cause, - and yet
The
earthquake splits the crust - unstoppable tectonic plates
Grind,
merciless, along their faults,
Re-shape
that landscape,
Obeying
blind and natural laws.
There
are, below the conscious - buried thoughts, unknown by all but
dreams...
08
Doctor of Spin 45sec.
sample [352KB]
Spin
doctor, spin doctor, doctor of spin,
Weaving
deceit in your efforts to win.
What
do you trap in your silvery web?
Soft
whispered thoughts, that I've buried, unsaid?
Spin
doctor, spin doctor, multiple eyed,
Viewing
the facts from the back and the side.
Where
go you, spider, when business is done...
09
A Refugee Child 40sec.
sample [317KB]
In
the eyes of a refugee child
I
gazed upon my own guilt.
Soul
naked before the world,
He
agonised for his divine parents.
I
should father him,
But
he seems older than I -
And
I am afraid.....
10
Ireland, Oh Ireland 51sec.
sample [403KB]
Such
troubled visions do I have of you.
Un-embracing
opposites - your old Celtic home
Bereft
of warm, melodious interface,
Playing
the repetitive organum of bigotry.
Strident
schizophrenia! Your many voices
Demanding
satisfaction for unnamed gods.
Such
ancient wisdom do I sense in you...
11
Waltz to the Ending of Time 26sec.
sample [203KB]
Waltz,
waltz, to the ending of time!
For
there's plenty of oil left to lubricate engines and
Dance,
dance, 'til we're all in the line.
Then
round in circles we'll drive ourselves crazy with
Notions
of new and exciting developments...
12
The Jazzbird and His Friends 39sec.
sample [304KB]
The
blackbird is a jazz-bird, I can testify to that.
I'm
certain it sings jazz and blues, ragtime and 'specially, scat!
And
though I worship Louis, Ella, Bix - and all the rest,
For
me the jazz-bird blackbird is, quite honestly, the best!
But
then, I've seen a kingfisher, blue streaking under trees.
A
Tornado or an F16 can't match his expertise...
13
Soft Night and Floating Dreams 52sec.
sample [410KB]
Soft
night and floating dreams and time shall carry me -
And
let me ride on drifting tides of thought, eternity
Caught
in my mind, where future, past, are bound in tight embrace -
And let me touch the moments there, the infinites that graced
Our
shallow and distracted lives with deeply glowing jewels,
Remembered
behind shuttered eyes, where greater kingdoms rule.
And
roll out the fantasies, old wish list of the brain...
